ABOUT MARTIN
Martin has served as a State Senator since 2020. When re-elected he will be the only physician elected to state government.
His wife Mary Cunnane is a retired OBGYN and former Medical Director at Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners. They are the proud parents of two children. Martin is following in his mother’s footsteps as she was also a state legislator. His parents held two values dear when he was growing up — education, and hard work — which Martin needed healthy doses of to overcome learning disabilities.
Martin’s mom loved quoting “You do what lies before you to be done!” thinking that came from her absolute role model, Eleanor Roosevelt (who actually said: “What one has to do usually can be done”). And his father, a Lieutenant in the Navy during WWII, always drove home the life long value of service.
Doing for others, especially those not as fortunate, was a guiding star instilled early in life by his parents. Because of these values, Martin is driven to help his community succeed.
